Free Magazines

Popular magazines often feature articles on breast health – you can see those while you're waiting in line at the grocery store.  But if you're really interested in breast cancer and breast health issues, try some of these free or low-cost magazines.  I've read over these publications, and can tell you that they do a good job explaining and communicating facts, news, and the personal side of breast cancer.

Cure magazine covers more than one dozen kinds of cancer, with a section just for breast cancer.  This is a mostly upbeat but realistic magazine that serves up research, recent news, events, and personal stories about cancer diagnoses and treatments.  Written for patients and supporters, the text is easy to follow and graphics are appealing.  Cure magazine is affiliated with US Oncology, Inc., a network of oncology clinics and professionals.

Insight is a newsletter-format magazine that skillfully blends personal stories with information on treatment decisions, personal challenges, and survival issues.  Easy to read and nicely presented, this LBBC publication includes news and resources you can use – such as conferences, meetings, and podcasts aimed at educating and supporting you.  Well written in a warm, confidant tone, Insight is well worth checking out. Insight is a publication of Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

Breast Cancer Wellness is stuffed with down-to-earth advice written with a personal touch.  You'll find everything from recipes, diet advice, celebrity survivors, principles to thrive by, to advice for survivors and supporters.  Download a free sample copy from their website and see how friendly the magazine is – it's all for breast cancer survivors and thrivers.  They encourage reader participation and a sense of community – you'll be encouraged to send in your stories and opinions. Breast Cancer Wellness is a division of ONE Health Institute, an IRS qualified 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit foundation.

Coping® With Cancer gives broad coverage of news, celebrity interviews, updates on treatments, lists of resources, and personal stories.  CWC covers 16 types of cancer, including breast cancer.  You'll also find information about financial and legal issues, treatment methods and side effects, personal relationships and wellness. Patients, caregivers and supporters can get help with coping during treatment as well as survival.  Coping® With Cancer is owned by Media America, Inc.
